Creative writing unlocks entirely new worlds and allows kids to step into of their own imagination, conjure captivating characters, creating magic. Literati helps participants learn to trust their imagination and be fearless! Our workshop offers kids the opportunity to become invigorated & deeply connected to the writing experience. Participants engage in various writing genres like journaling, poetry and storytelling, creating individually and in groups. Participants share work, connect with others within their age group & get constructive feedback for writing more on their own.

Literati empowers participants so they become confident, engaged & informed writers while finding their voices to speak their truth & tell impactful stories. Participants draw from youth influencing factors including peer networks, community, music & Hip Hop culture. Literati also provides space for participants to also explore advocacy, social justice and civic engagement. Let our facilitators and guest presenters help your child explore their creativity, imagination, and passion through word play, interactive games and more.

Workshop topics include:

1. Hunter Gatherer!: Gathering Ideas

2. Abracadabra!: Creating Characters & Places

3. Tell It Like It Is!: Short Story Writing

4. Spoken Words!: Poetry

5. Cut It Out!: Editing & Rewriting

6. Feed Me!: Peer Feedback
