The Murals of the Mind Project (M.O.M.) is a nonprofit 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides free and low cost literacy, life skills readiness workshop and mentoring to kids & teens ages 7-17 and college age youth through our Literacy 360 Workshops Program. Our mission is to increase the literacy IQ of kids, teens and college-age young youth.
Through our Literacy 360 Workshops Program, we engage youth unique literacy and life skills readiness workshops including high school, college and career readiness, workforce development, financial literacy, essay writing, creative writing, social justice / civic engagement, service learning. Workshops are facilitated in person and remotely via online platforms like Zoom.
Our program leaders are professionals experienced in the subject on which a workshop is focused. All have a strong repertoire of success within their workshop discipline. Many hold a bachelor or graduate degrees and have experience working with youth.
Yes. All volunteers and personnel working directly with youth are required to have FBI and state criminal background check and fingerprinting.
We follow all CDC, city and state guideline regarding COVID-19. In order to minimize the risk, all activities are virtual. In-person events are restricted and follow current COVID-19 guidelines.
Programs are available to kids & teens ages 7-17 and college age youth transitioning to other post-secondary education, certification or training programs.
Yes. youth are encouraged to register for more than one program. Simply apply in person on our website and social media pages during open enrollment. Registration requests can also be emailed to contactmom@muralsofthemind.org.
No. However, most workshops meet only one or two days per week for six weeks. We encourage participants to attend as frequently as possible. Workshop activities are cumulative and are critical to fostering skills readiness.
Most workshops are free to youth. Summer bootcamps / intensives are low cost. Scholarships are limited and are first come, first serve. Check for details online.
Space for workshops is limited. Registration is first come, first serve. Parents / Guardians can register their child on our website or social media pages during open enrollment. Registration requests can also be emailed to contactmom@muralsofthemind.org. Once required enrollment information is received, confirmations are emailed to families. A reminder notice is emailed 1 week before start date. Full workshops will generate a waitlist. As space opens, applicants are notified by email.

M.O.M.’s home base is Philadelphia, PA. Through partnerships, M.O.M. offers workshops to other nonprofits, schools, and community and faith-based organizations in an ‘On the Road’, a fee-for-service format. Some of our organizational partners and host locations include other nonprofits, schools, and community and faith-based organizations. We also offer private in person and online sessions to family and neighborhood groups for up to 25 participants.
